KOLI IS EASY TO GET TO

Koli National Park is located in Lieksa, North Karelia. The distance from Joensuu is approx. 63 kilometres and from Kajaani approx. 182 kilometres.

VIA TRAIN

A train journey from Helsinki to Joensuu takes about 4 hours. A connecting regular bus line to Koli operates every weekday and on-demand during weekends. To see the latest train timetable, and if you want to book a continuation to Koli see VR's website. A reservation for the on-demand bus has to be made at least a day before the trip.

Optionally, you can travel from Joensuu to Vuonislahti on the eastern side of Pielinen on a VR's regional train. When the Vuonislahti-to-Koli ice road is in use it only takes about 10 kilometres from Vuonislahti railway station to Koli village.

VIA BUS

Several buses of the Joensuu-Nurmes-line stop daily in Kolinportti from which it only takes about 9 kilometres to reach Koli village.

VIA CAR

The most accessible road to Koli is road number 504 also called Kolintie. Take the turn to Kolintie in Ahmovaara by highway number 6 between Kajaani and Joensuu. Alternatively during the winter months you can access Koli via the ice road from Vuonislahti, Lieksa.

FLYING TO KOLI

Nearest airports are located in Kuopio and Joensuu. There are several daily flights from Helsinki to both Kuopio and Joensuu taking about an hour each. Rental car services are available in both airports. See Finnair's page for more info
